Dr. Columba Yeung
Chairman, President, Chief Executive Officer and Director
Dr. Yeung founded VCI and the concept for the Value Creation Group in 1999. He is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of both VCI and BA Energy Inc. Dr. Yeung is the inventor of the Value Creation Group technology and has led its development from fundamental research to prototype scale-up evaluation. He is leading the team that is building the Heartland Upgrader. Prior to founding VCI, Dr. Yeung had a highly successful professional career with over 20 years of experience with Shell Canada and Royal Dutch Shell, where he held various executive positions in technology and major project development. His accomplishments include playing a key role in developing the unique process configuration for Shell Canada’s Scotford refinery and developing process technologies and plant process configurations for the Athabasca Oil Sands Project. He also led the development and implementation of the China strategy of Royal Dutch Shell, which eventually led to the multi-billion dollar Shell China complex at Daya Bay Guandong, one of the largest petrochemical projects in China. Dr. Yeung received his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Toronto.
Dr. Ian Chan
VP International Alliances, Director
Dr. Ian Chan has been Vice President of VCI since the organization was founded in 1998. He was appointed Vice President Strategic Alliance in 2005 and subsequently in 2007 as Vice President International Alliances. He has over 12 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, six of which were with Shell Canada, where he was responsible for refining technology research. Dr. Chan is the Managing Director of several business enterprises, including Ping Shan Enterprise Co., Ltd., and in 2006 Dr. Chan was elected Vice Chairman, The Hong Kong Chinese General Chamber of Commerce. Dr. Chan is also a member of the board of directors of BA Energy. He received his B. Sc. In Chemical Engineering from the University of Toronto and a Ph. D. in Chemical Engineering from Princeton University.
Dr. Ronnie Mo
Director, VP Strategic Planning
Dr. Ronnie Mo has over 15 years of international experience with blue chip multi-national corporations across a very broad industry spectrum. With a scholarship from the UK Atomic Energy Authority, he completed his doctorate engineering degree back in 1987 on dynamic computer modelling from the Sheffield University UK.
His 7 year tenure with Shell covered project financing, strategic planning, distribution and retail marketing. In 1994, he was appointed regional director of supply chain management for PepsiCo Restaurant International (a.k.a. Yum Brands) for Asia Pacific, covering more than 3,000 restaurants over 15 countries. His last corporate tenure was as Chief Operating Officer of an e-Commerce joint venture with Standard Chartered Bank and Jardine Matheson in Asia. Dr. Mo has also acted as the Managing Partner of Yorkshire Capital in Bangkok. In 2001, Dr. Mo started his own management consultancy practice with a special focus at corporate planning and financial advisory services. Currently, he is an advisory board member for two private companies in Thailand.
